In response to the recent changes in data protection, companies like Guest Truck & Van have needed to ask their email recipients to actively ‘Opt-In’ to receive email marketing in the future. Whereas before, companies could contact any email address on their marketing list, they are now required by law to have proof that the recipient has chosen to receive updates from them.

Guest Truck & Van therefore needed a way of contacting their email recipients, informing them of the change in law and trying to engage them to opt-in to receive future updates from them. We created an E-Shot, which explained the new law and featured a prominent “Please Opt-In” button. The design of the E-Shot matches the brand colours of Guest and the important information is highlighted in the strong blue and red. To help highlight the Opt-In button, we created a clean ‘Tick Box’ animation, which sits alongside the “Please Opt-In” text.

The E-Shot has been sent out multiple times in the lead up to the law coming into act on May 25th 2018. Each time the email is sent out, we tweak and edit the content in order to gain the most responses. We also customise the recipient list each time, removing those who had opted in from the previous E-Shot and targeting those who have opened the email but not opted in.
